Irma Blumstock completed her artistic education at the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst, in the class of Clemens von Wedemeyer for Expanded Cinema. Her films are composite works, collaging together music, cinema, literature and personal narration as well as fiction. She is using the cinema to explore the relationship between the moving image and its reception. Before making films and examinations of the moving image on the screen, she worked in the field of sculpture and installation, which has an impact on the installations and partly performative approaches of her filmic works.

Recently based in Berlin.
