Trapped in the stories, it is difficult to get rid of the pictures and to experience our own. "Say my name" forms a resting narrative by changing a subjective camera movement through the forest and the view of an actress, whom we seem to be accompanying. The forest functions as a canvas for the stories that we know from the cinema, the books and fairy tales that have in common the liberating and dissolving element of going away. In her narrative, she mixes stories and different roles, with her identity, so that  the boundary between her and the parts she plays remains open.

A note on storytelling.

„You know, there’s one place that all the people with the greatest potential are gathered. One place, and that’s -“. Viola Davis‘ speech at the Academy Awards asks the question: „What kind of stories do you wanna tell?“ In this work the answers are given by asking other ones: „Which stories get told and Who tells them?“

An essay from a journey to Japan. An outside view we look at place, try to grasp it and to fulfill expectations, but sometimes the notes

remain incomplete. Full of gaps, imperfect and damaged and we find ourselfs lost in translations.

Is there something like the female gaze? What does distinguish it? An observation, that does not try to reverse the male gaze on the female object, but to approach the other, to understand, through the camera as a fixed point that defines the relationship, between her and his body.

A shot of the sky stretches over the big movie screen. The different colorations are edited with pieces of music. Looking into the „blue“ creates different associations and emotions, it reveals how the sky become a carrier of meanings as the screen itself.
